Jeep TJ AX15 Transmission Shifter Removal Tool

The AX15 manual transmission is a workhorse. But when it comes time to change the clutch, one part removal is ALWAYS a pain in the A$$!

To remove the shifter you need to press down and twist a locking collar at the base of the shifter. It is completely smooth and covered in oil. So you will have a hard time getting a grip on it to twist it.

I designed this simple tool to aid in the removal of the collar. Put it into a ¼” drive 6” long extension; then push down and twist. Such a time saver! Also works great to reinstalling it.

If you do not want to remove the center console; you might be able to use this to reach the collar from under the Jeep.
